I think I am alive!

Sorry about the empty post.  I was trying to edit it and just didn't feel well enough and forgot about it I guess!  Yesterday was not a good day.  I was very sore and had a massive headache.  I used the Loritab and it made me itchy and hot and nauseated.  I did not take any vitamins or drink any protein shakes.  I could barely drink water.  I sipped it all day but I was so afraid I was going to throw up.

Today seems to be better.  No headache and not nearly as sore.  When I got home from the hospital on Tuesday I stepped on the scale..up 10 pounds!  I was so swollen because of all the fluid from my IV and the gas made me look and feel pregnant.  However, this morning I am down 15 pounds!

Yesterday I had buyers remorse.  I was talking to my sister and I started crying and asking her what the hell did I just do?  I knew to expect that and I was in so much pain that I elected to have!  Anyway, I think today may be my turning point.  I do feel a lot better.  Thank you for all the support.  I needed it.

  1. So sorry you had a bad day--glad you are feeling better. I'm struggling with the "what am I doing" panic as well. Darrell keeps reminding me that I'm doing the right thing. It's good that you have your sister to turn to for support. It will all be worth it in the end.

  3. I felt the EXACT same way, Vickie. Its totally normal (the pain and the buyer's remorse!). I still have days when the band isn't my best friend and I wonder if it was the right decision but then I see the pounds coming off and I feel better. Every day will get a bit better!

  4. What happened to my comment? It disappeared into cyberspace...the gyst of it was...

Yay your done...glad to hear you're feeling more human. You may feel a bit up and down over the next two weeks, but just remember two weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things and you'll soon be feeling fabulous! It all starts here. xx

  7. I'm sorry you felt poorly yesterday! I went through buyer's remorse as well. I think at just about the same time you did, in fact (a few days post-op). Lemme tell ya, the healing is rough, but in no time you will feel like your old self just not constantly hungry and much skinnier to boot!

    Get well soon, hun :)

  8. I think most of us get that buyers remorse rigth after. Try watering down the protein shake with extra liquid (maybe get one that mixes just with water). You will heal so much better with the protein (and some calories).

Congrats on the weight loss!!! It took me almost 2 weeks to lose the 10 pounds I gained during surgery. I bet you will feel even better once you can get out walking more!

  9. I had 2 AWFUL days, it happens! Don't be fooled by everyone else who seems to breeze right through, I never did. But the 3rd and 4th day and going forward just got better and better, so just hang in there. It is totally worth it, believe me!! You will forget all those painful days in no time.

  12. Feel better soon. And buyer's remorse will disappear as the weight starts to drop.

  13. This is the worst and it will be over soon. Just know to give yourself a few weeks to get back to normal.

  15. Sorry to hear that yesterday was rough but glad to hear that today is better. Hang in there - each day does get better! And awesome to drop the surgery pounds so quickly. Don't worry about the weight for now (as if, eh?) and just worry about healing. I found that warm things - like miso soup or chicken broth - made a huge difference in getting the protein in. I would heat the soups and then add protein powder. Protein will help to make sure each day gets progressively better - as will walking. Hang in there!!!

  16. Good tips from LDswims. Hope you are feeling better today. I knew we were in for a SLOW week, so I did not expect much. I have yet to shower since surgery :) and have been a lazy butt. I got a bunch of books at the library book sale (a bag for $5) so I read a bit, nap, nibble and walk. Have not been terribly hungry yet, but I know I need to start pushing eating protein more. I've been thinking of you because you are a day ahead of me and wondering how you are doing. Hang in there and know I'm wishing us the best. My freak out was before the surgery. Now I'm just kind of numb and puffy. :) Strained Cream of Broc. soup is delish! Took two days to eat it, but it was good. Take care!

  17. The only time I've ever regretted my lap-band was day #2 post-op. It gets so much better! I've heard that a lot of people feel better when they start taking regular liquid Tylenol and stop the Lortab. Also a good night's sleep can work wonders - liquid Unisom is a great help.

  18. Hang in there, honey. A lot of people regret getting the band the first few days after surgery, but then things start turning around. Hopefully things will get better and better each day.

  19. Hang in there - I had 'buyers remorse' too. However I can tell you that 4 months out I would do it again in a heartbeat.
