Pilates~I think I like it!

I walked into the workout room and saw a woman collecting various pieces of equipment for the Pilates class.  It scared the crap out of me and I turned around and walked back out.  Then I was ashamed of myself and went back in and asked the woman a few questions about the class.  She said to try it and do only what I could do.  Turns out, I liked it.  Some of the moves were a little challenging ( my tummy muscles seem to be very weak ), but I managed to finish the whole class.  I can already tell I will be very sore tomorrow.  I am going to incorporate this into my workouts 2X a week.  I am hoping this will firm me up a bit.

I am really starting to venture out of my protective/embarrassed shell more and more.  It feels damn good!

Zumba for WII~I am in LOVE!!!!!!!

Zumba Fitness BoxshotHey folks,  I got my Zumba for Wii the other day and I tried it out this morning.  OMG, I love it!  I am a bit of a Zumbaholic and I know many of the steps already.  There are 3 different levels, so if you have never tried it, you can learn the steps very easily.  You can dance alone or with other people.  I was sweating it out this morning!  I can't wait for my husband to try it. I would highly recommend adding this to your collection.  A big thanks to Karin @ Lap Band Gal for the heads up about pre ordering   :)

It's Been 6 Months/60 Pounds Lost

Today is my 6 month Bandiversary!  The time has gone by so fast.  I have gone from 245 lbs to 185 lbs.   I would like to get somewhere around 145-150 lbs.  Looking back at these pictures is difficult.  I am still not happy with my body though.  I have no ass to speak of and my belly is still huge.  I know quite a bit of it is skin, and really, I am okay with that.  I have had 4 kids and been overweight so it is my battle scar.  I am too afraid of a tummy tuck, so Spanx will be my BFF.  All in all, my journey has been wonderful.  Everything in my life is so much better.  I no longer take anti depressants and I no longer snore.  No more acid reflux, I can tie my shoes, I can jog, I can wear dresses and skirts!  I can wear a size 14 very comfortably and some 12's.  Shopping is great too!  For anyone who is contemplating getting the band, let me tell you it was THE BEST thing I have ever done for myself.  I am so thankful I could do this.  The blogs have been an unbelievable source of support and a wealth of information for me.  I have met some wonderful people who have become dear friends for life.  I try to encourage everyone to read the blogs.  I have Amy W. to thank for introducing them to me!  Thank you all for your support and kind words.  The pictures may not be in the right order, cause I have no idea how to do that!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Miss Vickie

Ain't She Purty?

This is my new beach cruiser!  I love to bike ride with the wind in my hair and I can enjoy the scenery.  I hope to be able to ride it this weekend.  Walmart is putting the bike together for me.

We are going to Daytona Beach for Christmas this year and I can't wait to ride on the beach!

Lap Band Gal's "What I Eat"

Morning:  1-2 cups of coffee with half and half, and 2 teaspoons of Benefiber~keeps me regular!

1 packet Weight Control Oatmeal mixed with FF milk, chopped walnuts, 2 strawberries, or blueberries, brown sugar, and 1 scoop GNC vanilla protein powder.

1 hour later, 32oz of water sipped until the next meal.

Lunch:  Usually consists of a small salad w/ 2 slices of turkey and  slice of sharp cheddar cheese and various veggies.  Or, 1cup of Hormel no bean Chili w/ shredded cheese and 1 tsp of light sour cream.  Or, homemade chicken salad with 5 reduced fat Ritz crackers

1 hour later, 32oz of water sipped until the next meal.

Snack:  SF pudding, or SF popsicle, or Starbucks Via Instant coffee.

Dinner:  Varies.  Usually, some kind of meat  3oz, salad and/or vegetables~ once in a while, 1/2 piece of crunchy bread.

1 hour later, 32oz of water sipped until I go to bed.

Sometimes I will have another popsicle or 1-2x a week I have a WW Giant Fudge Bar.

Once a week or so I treat myself to 1 Margarita.

I take all of my meds in the morning and space out my calcium and multi vitamin throughout the day.

I shoot for 80 grams of protein a day.  I do not usually count calories.  I either measure or "eyeball" 1 cup of food per meal.  Because of the protein powder in my oatmeal, it comes out to be more than 1 cup, but it is about 40 grams of protein in one meal.  I think this is my largest or most caloric meal of the day.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Lap Band Gal!  Great idea!

Losing My Britches!!

I usually do a walk/jog in the mornings up and down my street.  I am in a water challenge and I sucked at it last week, so I have had quite a bit of water and coffee this morning.  Sooooo, I started my walk/jog today and I was listening to my IPod, when I noticed my workout pants were sliding down my fanny!  Besides that, I had to pee each time I came by my house!  I finally had to find a safety pin to keep my pants up.  Mind you, these are a size large!  Thankfully, I can sew a little, so I will be taking them in a bit.  Even though having to pee and having my pants fall down was a bit annoying, I was also pretty happy about it!  I am looking forward to purchasing a size medium very soon!

Phoenix, Arizona 2010

Me, Crystal and Livi
Me, Jen and Lizzy
It has been a while since I have been able to read or post a blog!  I was in Phoenix for the last 2 weeks and it was a whirl wind time!  I was able to meet with Jen and Lizzy for lunch......I missed Amanda and Angela though.  They both looked amazing and it is nice knowing that I will be back very often and can meet with them again.

Liviana, me, Nicolas and Aiden
My daughter graduated from The University of Phoenix with her Bachelor's Degree in Communications.  I am extremely proud of her!  I had a wonderful time with my family and especially with my 3 adorable grand kids.

I also lost 2 pounds while I was there!  Woo hoo!!!!

It is good to be home,

Miss Vickie
