Date Night! and Comparison Face Shot

Sept. 2009
John and Me, Jan. 2011
John and I finally had a date night.  Besides the fact that he works out of town quite a bit of the time, he works 12 hours 7 days a week when he is home.  He is leaving again on Tuesday for 6 weeks    :-(
Thankfully, we had some time to go out to dinner.  It was lovely and I wore my newest dress I bought this week.  It fit great and I felt great.

My new $15 dress from TJ MAXX
What I can't get over, is how different I look!  I had to find a comparison shot to check out the changes in my face.  I have lost my triple chin and half of my cheeks!  I am so grateful for my band.

While John is gone I will be very busy with my new real estate job.  Thank goodness.  It can get very lonely and quiet around here with just 1 person in the house.  I will continue going to the gym and my new Rottie keeps me jogging at least twice a day.

Hope everyone has a great week!

My How Things Have Changed!

Yesterday was my official first day of work at the Real Estate office.  I actually have my own desk!  This may seem like a strange thing to be excited about, but my "office" for the past 30 + years has been a delivery truck or a school bus.  I dressed in business casual and felt very comfortable around people I didn't know.  That is huge for me.  I usually turn beet red in the face and sweat profusely because I am so self conscious of my weight.  What a great feeling.

So, John and I decided to go out to eat at Ruby Tuesday's.  I got the salad bar...well about 1/3 of a salad plate full and a cup of their White Chicken Chili.  I ate most of my salad and about 4 bites of the soup and I was full.

Sitting across from us were an overweight couple.  The woman had her salad plate piled high.  She ate most of the salad and the little rolls they give you.  Then to my shock and amazement, here comes a giant double burger and fries!  She proceeded to the all of the burger and fries!  I felt so sorry for her.  Actually, a year ago, that would have been me!  I actually get grossed out seeing people eat all of that food.  I wish I could talk to her and tell her about the band.  The band has changed my life and the way I think about food forever.  Thank God!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Miss Vickie

Scored at TJ MAXX again!

Lord help me, but I do love shopping!  Especially now.  I always go to the clearance rack first.  So today, I found this beautiful dress on clearance for $15.00!  I am going to a wedding in VA the end of July,  and I think it will be perfect!  Did I mention it's a size 10?

I will be in Richmond, which is near Sarah of "Losing Weight, Gaining Tons".  I plan to visit her and I will get to see the new baby!

Thank you all for your support and comments.  I can't believe how lucky I am to have found you!

Goal Weight Change

Since I have been contemplating this journey with the Lap Band, my goal has always been to be in the "Healthy" category of the BMI Chart.  I still want that, but I am trying to be realistic about it too.  According to said BMI Chart, I should weigh no more than 145 lbs for my height.  That is on the high side of the chart.  They do not take your age into consideration though.  I am 51 years I hate writing that!  I want to be healthy, but I don't want to look gaunt or too wrinkly.  Even my surgeon says those charts are not very realistic.

So, I changed my goal weight from 145 to 155.  This puts me in the "overweight" category, but just by a smidge.  And really, I'm okay with that.  I want to be healthy and fit and live a long time so I can irritate my darling husband and kids!  But, I want to eat like a normal person and not starve.  I was at 155 in my early 30's and I was very happy at the weight.  So, I did it.  I changed my goal weight.

I got my fill on Thursday.  Before that, I stopped in to see Amy W.  Can I just tell you, that little girl.....and I do mean little.....has really buffed up her arms!  You don't notice any batwings!  She is surprised too.  She does workout with some pretty hefty weights though.  It is very encouraging to know that there is a chance to lose the batwings if you are willing to do the work.  She looks fantastic!

My fill was a little more aggressive this time.  I was stuck between 184-186 for 6 weeks.  Now, I weigh 181!  I have been gurgling a bit and I stayed on liquids yesterday, but I think this fill will help me get back on the losing track.

Have a great weekend everyone,

Miss Vickie

Dixie Grace

Well, after driving 8 hours in ice and snow through Mississippi. we rescued Dixie from a shelter.  She is a 2 year old beautiful and sweet Rottweiler.  We had a Rottie named Kona for 8 years and she passed away 4 years ago.  We have missed her so much.  We found Dixie on and I think she will be an awesome dog.

Our other dog is a 3 year old YorkiePoo, named Jane, who is not the least impressed.  I'm sure over time, they will be best friends.  Jane needs to stop sneering and showing her teeth first!

On the band front, I will be getting a much needed fill on Thursday.  I hope to lose more weight by walking Dixie a lot!

New Year's Eve Pictures

Nikki, Marcus, me and John
Nikki and Marcus
John and I at the St Francis Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Here are the pictures from New Year's Eve night in New Mexico.  My son, Marcus and his girlfriend, Nikki, ( very soon to be fiance ) are thinking of moving there.  My son is an Endodontist and is going to open his own practice.  Nikki will do the marketing for him and most likely, open a vintage clothing store.  They are talking of getting married this summer in Italy!  Wow!  Thank God I have lost a good deal of weight!

We had a wonderful time, but it was only 6 degrees!  It was unusually cold.  It made me appreciate Florida so much more!

I am a very blessed woman.

"I Can See It In Your Eyes"

That is what my husband said to me when my food got stuck at the restaurant.  He can always tell when I'm stuck.  Then I feel bad because he feels bad for me.  This is the first time I had to go to the bathroom for it though.  He always feel guilty for eating too fast and thinks he is a bad influence on me.  It is very easy for me to get distracted and eat too fast.  I try to tell him that it is my responsibility, not his, but he still feels bad.  You would think after 7 months since surgery, I would have figured it out by now.  This is something I will really work on this year.  Small bites, put my fork down, and chew, chew, chew.

I hope you all had a great New Year.  I sure did.  I will post pictures with my son when I get home from N.M.
