"I Can See It In Your Eyes"

That is what my husband said to me when my food got stuck at the restaurant.  He can always tell when I'm stuck.  Then I feel bad because he feels bad for me.  This is the first time I had to go to the bathroom for it though.  He always feel guilty for eating too fast and thinks he is a bad influence on me.  It is very easy for me to get distracted and eat too fast.  I try to tell him that it is my responsibility, not his, but he still feels bad.  You would think after 7 months since surgery, I would have figured it out by now.  This is something I will really work on this year.  Small bites, put my fork down, and chew, chew, chew.

I hope you all had a great New Year.  I sure did.  I will post pictures with my son when I get home from N.M.

  1. My husband and kids say my face turns red..when it does they clear my pathway out of what ever table we are sitting at. I have gotten better and stopping soon enough and eating slow enough..I know you will too.

  2. I think our eyes go glazed when we feel we need that bathroom. My hubby can pick it up too. Hey at least they are noticing us! Happy New Year to you too!

  3. I'm just starting to learn how to eat slowly.. I never realized it was so tough!! Especially when I am yapping away throughout my meal! It is easy to forget what we're doing when we aren't consciously trying to follow the rules..

    Happy New Year!

  5. Oh I'm sorry you had to deal with that in a restaurant! I know that's terrible!
And I think its exciting that you guys will renew your vows - even though its a little ways off still - its something nice to look forward to. This August, we will be married 17 years. I'm not going to based it on a milestone year - I'm going to base it on when I look the best! Haha!

  6. I totally know how you feel. I was banded less than a month ago, and I am finally on "real foods" now. We went out to eat and I wanted to attempt a normal night out, but since I'm still so new w/ having my band and eating, I ended up getting food stuck. My husband eats really fast too, and its hard not to get caught up in the food race. I'm so glad to know I'm not alone here :)

  7. It's been almost a year for me and I still have issues... hey we are undoing years and years (27 for me) of the OTHER eating style, so cut yourself some slack :)

  8. I get the eye glaze look and tilt my head for some reason! I'm sorry you got stuck, especially outside the home, that really sucks.

I look forward to your pics....enjoy the rest of your time with the family!

  9. Yes, it is hard sometimes to eat slowly, sometimes you forget to chew, chew, chew and then your "Friend" reminds you but all we can do is keep trying.

You're doing a great job :) Pat your self on the back for all the times you do it right and forgive yourself for the times you don't !

  10. My husband notices that I get really quiet. He seems to always know really quickly. You are doing great by only having to visit the bathroom once in 7 months! You must be really following the rules!

  12. I get the same face...luckily, I think I do an ok job of hiding it given most people don't know about my band, but my family definitely knows that face well!! Glad you had a nice holiday and Happy New Year!

  13. My husband knows the look and whenever I am out with someone for the first time, I have to explain the "stuck" look on my face before hand, so they don't think I'm some raging bulimic as I dash off to the bathroom. I just hate getting stuck in public, but sometimes I just don't take my time like I know I should. Happy New Year, Miss Vickie!
